Tamsin R. Kaplan to Chair MCLE Employment Law Program

On May 23, 2018, Davis Malm shareholder Tamsin R. Kaplan will be chairing the Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) seminar, “What Every Lawyer Needs to Know About Employment Law.” The program will provide lawyers of all practice groups with the resources needed to get up to speed on new developments in the law, and to effectively advise their clients on employment law matters. Topics will include an explanation of the employment “life cycle” from recruitment to termination, and tips on how to manage the employment relationship, reduce risk, spot potential claims and, when necessary, end the relationship to the client’s advantage. Ms. Kaplan will be joined by employment lawyers Lawrence P. Murray, of Burns & Levinson LLP, and Jody L. Newman, of Hogan Lovells LLP.

Lawrence J. Casey and Robert M. Kaitz Co-Author Chapter for MCLE’s Massachusetts Employment Law

Lawrence J. Casey and Robert M. Kaitz co-authored a chapter in the 2017 supplement of the Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education’s (MCLE) Massachusetts Employment Law. The chapter, “Privacy in the Workplace: An Employee Perspective,” discusses recent updates in workplace privacy rights, including new limitations on employers’ ability to disclose employees’ medical information and facts regarding termination, conduct drug testing, maintain personnel files, access employees’ criminal records, and intercept employees’ mail.

On April 5, Robert J. Munnelly, Jr. and Patrick T. Clendenen, shareholders at Davis Malm, will present the program, “Protecting Data & Dealing with Breaches Globally in 2017,” as a seminar for Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education (MCLE).

Paul L. Feldman Co-Chairs MCLE’s “Zoning Practice” Program

On January 26, Davis Malm shareholder Paul L. Feldman co-chaired the Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) “Zoning Practice” Program. The full-day program covered a wide range of zoning topics. Mr. Feldman’s presentation focused on obtaining special permits and variances under municipal zoning by-laws.

Mr. Feldman’s real estate practice involves all aspects of real estate work, including acquisition, leasing, permitting, and financing. He represents several active and substantial real estate developers and handles transactions in many parts of the country. He appears before municipal boards and state agencies, as well as before all levels of the Massachusetts state court system.
