Client Service Excellence: Make Everyone Feel Like a VIP

I’m just back after being away for our 2015 Asia Pacific Regional Meeting in Shanghai, where we had one of the best examples of excellent client service that I’ve seen in a long time – which provides a superb learning opportunity for all of us in professional services. Our Asia Pacific conference is typically our smallest meeting, with around 20 attendees, and as such, we don’t make up a significant part of a hotel’s business in the same way that we do for our other conferences.

Week of March 2, 2015 on ILNToday – A Roundup!

Today’s Roundup comes to you from halfway around the world from my usual roundup location – I’m in Shanghai with the ILN’s Asia Pacific Regional Conference! We have one more day tomorrow before the conference wraps up, and everyone has been having a wonderful time and connecting incredibly well with each other – it’s been very evident in the way that it’s difficult to get them to spend any time apart!

In the meantime, we’ve still had posts coming through on ILNToday! Here are this week’s top posts:

Rainmaking Recommendation from Jaimie Field: Why Can’t They Sleep?

The title of Jaimie’s post made me chuckle a little, since it’s the middle of the night on the east coast at the moment, and I am wide awake, as I’m currently in Shanghai for our Asia Pacific conference. I was awake myself last night on and off, in part because of jet lag, in part because I was worried I’d sleep through my alarm and miss the morning meetings, and in part because I was mentally running through my conference checklists and thinking about all of the emails and work I could be doing instead of sleeping.

But, despite all of that, I’ve managed to get through almost all of it, as usually is the case, and we’re almost ready for tonight’s kickoff reception and dinner. Keep an eye on our Instagram and Facebook pages for photos from the events! Now, on to Jaimie’s post!

Two for Tuesdays: Tips for The Biggest Challenge to Content Marketing

As you read this, I will either be in Shanghai, or on my way there (my brain is currently too fried from conference prep, getting ready for a blog launch, and a variety of other projects to calculate the time/travel difference!). And that’s actually a perfect segue for this week’s Two for Tuesdays, in which we look at the biggest challenge that you’re going to see to content marketing in 2015.

The inspiration for this post comes again from Business 2 Community, with a post from Asaf Rothem, “3 Major Challenges Your Content Marketing Department Will Encounter in 2015.” Admittedly, I chuckled at the title, because for the most part, none of us will have a full blown content marketing department.

Happy 6th Blogiversary to Zen & the Art of Legal Networking!

Today marks six years since Zen & The Art of Legal Networking made its debut in the legal blogging world. In some ways, it feels like it’s been longer than that, while in others, the time has just flown!

I’ve only ever marked this “blogiversary” three other times – on the second, fourth and fifth anniversaries, when I shared a sort of “state of the blog,” things I had learned, and tips for blogging. Blogiversaries, like anniversaries, should be a time of reflection, so today has got me thinking about what I’ve learned in the past year, specifically six things I can share with you from Zen.

Two for Tuesdays: Promoting Your Content

Staying with our theme of content marketing, today, I want to look at what happens once you’ve produced your content. It’s not enough just to write, present or produce something smart and insightful – you’ve also got to promote it.

That may feel a little bit icky, but it’s important – it’s not about tooting your own horn; it’s about making your content available to those who may not be able to find it otherwise. And there are ways to do it without being pushy or obnoxious (which is very important).

Week of February 16, 2015 on ILNToday – A Roundup!

It’s the coldest it’s been here yet (we woke up to -18 degrees with the wind chill), and the weathermen tell us that next week will make today look warm. Oh dear. But I can’t complain too much since I have friends in far colder climates, and a sister dealing with constantly freezing pipes in the same temps as I have. Here’s hoping everyone with snow and cold is staying warm and frozen-pipe free!

On to the roundup!

Superbowl Commercials: The Ugly of 2015

And here we are, at the last of my Superbowl Commercials posts. We’re talking about the worst of the worst of this year’s Superbowl Commercials and while there are only a couple for a change, they are really doozies.

I’ll start with the least terrible of the two, to ease you into the cringing.
