Andrej Rudanov commented on new Commission’s requirements for food products

Two weeks ago Commission Regulation (EU) No 432/2012 of 16 May 2012 established a list of 222 health claims made on foods and allowed using appropriate claims about the effect of these products and their constituents on human health and prevention of disease risk. This decision, however, raised a dual reaction in EU members states – both businesses and control authorities are forced to jointly clarify procedural aspects of implementation of the Regulation.

In Ekonomika.lt (Economics.lt), Andrej Rudanov, senior associate of law firm TARK GRUNTE SUTKIENE, commented on the problems of implementation of this Regulation, discussed the issues related to the use of health promotion claims, transitional periods for relabeling of packages and sale out of products.
