Christopher J. Marino Presents at BBA Program

On October 24, shareholder Christopher J. Marino, presented at the Boston Bar Association (BBA) annual Brand Yourself Workshop for senior associates and new partners. Mr. Marino participated on the panel, “Perspectives from New Partners,” in which he shared his personal experience and insights for building a personal brand and strengthening client relationships in the competitive legal market.

Mr. Marino practices in the Litigation, Business Law, Employment, and Real Estate and Environmental areas at Davis Malm. He has extensive experience in the trial and appeal of complex business litigation in the areas of shareholder disputes, corporate governance, securities, real estate, construction and development, employment relations, contracts, and insurance coverage disputes. Mr. Marino also advises clients on general business matters, including business formation, contract negotiation, and employment matters. He represents clients before state and federal courts, appellate courts, and arbitration panels throughout the country.

Davis Malm Shareholder William F. Griffin, Jr. to Present at Boston Bar Association Program

On September 27th, William F. Griffin, Jr., a shareholder at Boston law firm Davis, Malm & D’Agostine, P.C., will be a featured speaker at the Boston Bar Association’s (BBA) program, “Deed Stamps: When Required, When Exempt and When Nonpayment is Challenged by the Department of Revenue.” Mr. Griffin, along with two other panelists, will discuss deed stamps, and will address when they are required, when a transaction is exempt, how the DOR enforces the obligation to pay deed stamps, and certain nuances for conveyancing practices.

Davis Malm attorney Laurie Alexander-Krom recently participated in the Boston Bar Association’s “Law Day in the Schools ” program. Ms. Alexander-Krom led an interactive program on the United States Constitution for first and third graders at the Beethoven School in West Roxbury. Each year, 100 volunteer lawyers and judges visit classes of all levels throughout Boson as part of this outreach program designed to combine civics with information about choosing the law as a career.

Laurie Alexander-Krom practices in the employment law and litigation areas. She advises employers, employees, and business executives in all aspects of employment-related issues and policies including hiring, FMLA leave and ADA compliance, discrimination, wage and hour, employee terminations, and severance agreements.

On March 22, Davis Malm attorney David Rapaport spoke on a panel with Justice Giles of the Massachusetts Superior Court, along with other experience trial lawyers, at a Boston Bar Association program titled “Is the Civil Justice System in Need of Serious Repair: Part II.” The program focused on the Final Report of the American College of Trial Lawyers Task Force on Discovery, which recommended significant changes to the rules of discovery in civil cases, and the basis for its conclusions, as well as two of the more controversial recommendations. Mr. Rapaport discussed problems presented by the proposed new rules for employment plaintiffs who need full and fair discovery in order to prove their cases.
