William McCullough has rejoined Shutts & Bowen LLP as a partner in its Corporate Practice Group in the firm’s Miami office. Mr. McCullough, who previously practiced with Shutts & Bowen for about 20 years, returns after four years as a partner in the Miami office of Holland & Knight LLP.
McCullough’s return coincides with that of partner Kimberly Prior, who rejoined Shutts & Bowen last week after two years as a partner with the Miami office of Baker McKenzie.
The utilization by local governments of public-private deals, otherwise known as public-private partnerships or P3s, continued to grow in popularity over the course of 2017. We expect that popularity to continue as more and more local governments become familiar with and experience the benefits of such projects.

Shutts & Bowen is pleased to announce the appointment of Orlando partner Daniel O’Keefe to the University of Florida Board of Trustees. Daniel, who was appointed by the Florida Board of Governors, will serve a five-year term on the Board.
Kimberly Prior has rejoined Shutts & Bowen LLP as a partner in its Financial Services Practice Group in the firm’s Miami office. She rejoins Shutts & Bowen LLP after two years as an equity partner at Baker McKenzie. For 10 years before joining Baker McKenzie, she practiced at Shutts & Bowen LLP.

Miami partner Aliette DelPozo Rodz has been selected to receive the Government & Law Award during the 30th annual In the Company of Women Awards on March 8, 2018. Aliette is among an elite group of South Florida women being recognized for their service, leadership and contribution to women.
Awardees are selected by a panel of community leaders organized by the Miami-Dade County Commission for Women based on the criteria of promotion of pluralism, professional development, community involvement, leadership and vision, and contribution to women’s progress in 13 categories.
Shutts & Bowen attorneys filed a $52 million lawsuit against the African nation of Angola on behalf of its client, LS Energia, claiming years of underpayment for operating two of its power plants.
The two Angolan facilities provided electricity to more than 2 million people in the Portuguese-speaking nation. Angola is the largest oil exporter and producer in sub-Saharan Africa, which caused the country to face hardships when oil prices dropped.
