CMS increases Medicare payment for COVID-19 lab tests using high-production equipment

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a new payment ruling and announced that effective April 14, 2020, and through the remainder of the emergency period, Medicare will pay $100 under Part B for each COVID-19 clinical diagnostic laboratory test (CDLT) processed using “high-throughput” equipment.

FTC Provides Guidance for Ed Tech Providers and Schools on Protecting Children’s Privacy while Remote Learning

With many children’s schools having transitioned to online education, questions have arisen regarding the collection of children’s personal information by the online educational platforms that support remote learning.

In response to these questions, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) recently provided guidance on how the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) applies to educational technology (ed tech) providers and schools when engaging in virtual online learning. Read more…

DDTC Provides Updated COVID-19 Measures

Yesterday the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls published an update to its operations as follows:

Compliance/Registration

  • Effective March 13, 2020, a temporary suspension of the requirement in ITAR Parts 122 and 129 to renew registration as a manufacturer, exporter, and/or broker and pay a fee on an annual basis by extending ITAR registrations expiring on February 29, March 31, April 30, May 31, and June 30, 2020 for two months from the original date of expiration.
  • DDTC Compliance is now granting an additional 30 days for responses to its request-for-information letters related to voluntary and directed disclosure matters.  DDTC Compliance is also considering extensions for the submission of full voluntary disclosures on a case-by-case basis.  Extension requests should be sent via email to DTCC-CaseStatus@state.gov on company letterhead in PDF format.
  • DDTC is also pursuing a one-time temporary reduction in registration fees for certain categories of DDTC registrants.  More information on any change will be provided on DDTC’s website.
