UW Medicine Notifies 90,000 Patients of HIPAA Breach

TRIBUNAL PERMITS APPELLANTS TO CHALLENGE RENEWABLE ENERGY PROJECTS UNDER THE CHARTER

In a decision given by Vice-Chair Paul Muldoon on November 22nd, 2013, the Environmental Review Tribunal (“ERT” or the “Tribunal”) granted the Appellants a limited, but potentially still very important right to challenge s. 142.1 of the Environmental Protection Act (“EPA”) as violating their right not to be deprived of security of the person under section 7 of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms except in accordance with the principles of fundamental justice. In order to protect consumers’ legitimate interest, to maintain social and economic order and to facilitate the proper development of the social market economy, the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress resolved and passed the newly amended Law of the People’s Republic of China on Protection of Consumers’ Interest (the “Law”) on 25 October 2013. More support for mesothelioma victims

A Bill currently going through the UK parliament will mean that newly diagnosed victims of mesothelioma – the aggressive and fatal cancer caused by asbestos – will receive help for the first time through a new support scheme.

Mesothelioma is a cancer of the lining of internal organs, such as the lungs, and almost always arises from exposure to asbestos. Life expectancy from diagnosis is eight to nine months on average.
