Miguel Diaz de la Portilla
Arnstein & Lehr Miami Partner and State Senator Miguel Diaz de la Portilla recently partnered with Farm Share to distribute food to more than 600 Florida senior citizens on fixed incomes. Food Share is a large-scale food bank and charitable packinghouse working to end hunger. It specializes in securing donated fresh fruits and vegetables from Florida’s farmers and putting it into the hands of low-income families in need of nutritious food. Every year it provides more than 15 million pounds of food to more than 600,000 low-income households across Florida. Last week Farm Share took truckloads of food to three senior centers in Miami-Dade County. The items included fresh cucumbers, green beans and cantaloupe, plus a variety of USDA canned goods, beans, rice, pork patties and corn meal. The seniors were delighted to receive the wonderful variety of food, along with boxes of personal hygiene products and cleaning supplies.
