Chicago Partner Mark Spognardi was recently interviewed for an article that was posted April 29 to the Web site of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). The article addressed the concern that employers may be lulled into a false sense of informality when conducting video interviews that might lead to inappropriate questions. SHRM is the world’s largest association devoted to human resource management, representing more than 250,000 members in more than 140 countries.

Kathleen Lach speaks at ISBA’s “Illinois Tax Overview and Current Issues: The Expert’s Perspective”

Chicago Partner Kathleen Lach was a presenter at an Illinois State Bar Association conference, “Illinois Tax Overview and Current Issues: The Expert’s Perspective,”  on April 29. Ms. Lach’s presentation, “Informal Conference Board Proceedings,” reviewed the practice and procedural requirements when appearing before the Informal Conference Board and discussed how to effectively represent a client in the informal review process.

Mr. Rothman chairs the Intellectual Property Committee of the Business Law Section of The Florida Bar, the sponsor of the event.  Mr. Rothman  gave the “2011 Copyright Law Update” to attendees at the Symposium.

Cynde Munzer works with Exelon to launch national Vision 2020 initiative in Chicago

Chicago Partner Cynde Munzer hosted Vision 2020’s Chicago Host Committee luncheon in Arnstein & Lehr’s Chicago office on Wednesday, April 27 to officially launch Vision 2020 in Chicago. The group successfully kicked off their plans for Vision 2020’s second annual meeting in Chicago on October 11-13. Ms. Munzer and ComEd President Anne Pramaggiore are serving as co-chairs of the Chicago Vision 2020 Host Committee along with Melinda Johnson, Administrator, Institute for Women’s Health and Leadership®, Drexel University College of Medicine. TARK GRUNTE SUTKIENE Tallinn office advised Pro Kapital in sale of Kristiine Keskus

TARK GRUNTE SUTKIENE team advised Pro Kapital in sale of one of the largest shopping centres (Kristiine Keskus) in Tallinn to Citycon group for ca 105 million EUR. The deal was closed in 2 May 2011 whereafter Citycon group, already owning Rocca al Mare and Magistrali shopping centres in Tallinn, became the owner of Kristiine shopping centre.

This deal is a landmark transaction for being one of the largest real estate transactions in Estonia ever and for setting a benchmark for other post-recession real estate deals.

The client was advised by partner Risto Vahimets and senior associate Marit Savi.

Senior associate Agnius Pilipavičius held a seminar on restructuring

On 28 April 2011, TARK GRUNTE SUTKIENE senior associate Agnius Pilipavičius held a seminar for the employees of AB Šiaulių Bankas and its subsidiaries. At the seminar, the speaker presented the changes in the regulation of the institute of restructuring after the coming into effect of the Law of the Republic of Lithuania on Restructuring of Enterprise on 1 October 2010. The participants discussed the application of the institute of restructuring in practice.

More than 20 employees of AB Šiaulių Bankas and its subsidiaries from all over Lithuania attended the seminar.
